Teens ages 13 and up are invited to a special two-in-one program at the JCC on Sunday, December 7, 4pm.
First, teens are invited to write articles for the Shalom, this Jewish newspaper. Our community benefits from hearing from a multitude of voices, especially those from the next generation. And teens need an outlet to share their thoughts and experiences (plus build their resumes and extra-curricular experiences). Any interested teens are invited to come learn about what it takes to write for the Shalom directly from Mark Nemirow, the editor. They will be able to ask their questions and get valuable information like expectations and deadlines!
Then, teens are invited to a special presentation from Niv Sadeh, a shaliach based in Philadelphia, working at the JCC there and specifically for a program called RootOne. Niv will give a presentation called “Israel 101: Interview with a Shaliach” where he will answer questions, talk about life and culture, and more. He will also introduce RootOne and talk about the many ways teens from our community could join an organized trip to Israel.
RootOne provides vouchers for high school students to visit Israel on a wide range of trips, focused by interest: environment, outdoors, sports, entrepreneurship, LGBTQ+, and more. Research suggests that a strong connection to Israel as a teen can set them on a path toward ongoing engagement in Jewish life. RootOne makes these trips more affordable for families.
Niv Sadeh is originally from Ramat Gan, Israel. He is an experienced educator, mainly with teens, youth movements, and youth serving organizations. He also serves as a reservist in one of the infantry units of the IDF. He enjoys sports and became an Eagles fan the moment he was introduced to the NFL! He also likes jazz music and hiking outdoors.
Registration is required and snacks will be provided.
